My Story
My name is Miya Hu, I am a dedicated professional working in the field of materials engineering. In June 2020, I graduated from Nanchang University with a Master's degree in Materials Engineering. My passion for scientific research and commitment to advancing knowledge in my field led me to pursue a career in academic publishing.
In March 2021, I joined MDPI, an esteemed academic publisher, as the Manager Editor for the Coatings Journal. Drawing upon my expertise in materials engineering and strong editorial skills, I play an integral role in shaping the content and direction of the journal. My primary responsibilities include managing the peer-review process, ensuring the quality and integrity of published articles, and fostering collaborations with researchers and scholars worldwide.
Coatings is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal on coatings and surface engineering, published monthly online by MDPI. The journal is indexed within Scopus, SCIE (Web of Science), Inspec, CAPlus/SciFinder, and other databases. With its broad scope, the Coatings Journal covers a wide range of topics related to coatings, including surface engineering, coating materials, protective coatings, thin films, polymer coatings, nanocoatings, corrosion protection, functional coatings, and surface modification techniques. We welcome contributions from various disciplines, such as chemistry, physics, materials science, engineering, and applied sciences, making it an interdisciplinary hub for the coatings community.
At present, our team at the Coatings Journal consists of predominantly women editors, with offices located in China, the UK, Poland, Serbia, Spain, Thailand, and other locations. Throughout our careers, we have demonstrated a deep understanding of the importance of promoting diversity and inclusivity in the scientific community. We strongly believe in providing equal opportunities for women in science and empowering them to excel in their respective fields. Our extensive knowledge and experience in materials engineering bring a unique perspective to the Coatings Journal, and our unwavering dedication to supporting researchers and fostering collaboration has contributed to the success and reputation of the journal.
As part of my ongoing commitment to promoting women in science, I am thrilled to participate in the Women in Science Week 2024 event. I look forward to engaging with fellow scientists, sharing my experiences, and inspiring the next generation of women in science. Through my involvement in this event, I aim to highlight the achievements of women in the scientific community and encourage young women to pursue careers in science. My enthusiasm, expertise, and dedication make me an invaluable asset to the Coatings Journal and a strong advocate for women in science. My unwavering commitment to advancing knowledge and promoting gender equality continues to influence and inspire researchers worldwide.
